Laminating Cautions
  1. Aqueous Coating Reduces bonding strength between plastic laminate and papers. Not recommended for some applications requiring a strong bond.
  2. Single-sided laminations require a minimum ½" margins on all sides.
  3. Docutech with heavy toner coverage is not compatible with thermal laminating film.
  4. Digital printing fuser oil is not compatible with thermal (heat) laminating film.
  5. Thin (24/60#) papers from high-speed copies tend to get waves.
  6. Inks containing Wax, Silicone, UV Coating/EVA are not compatible with thermal (heat) laminating films.
  7. Ink Colors (PMS and Process) likely, there can be some change to colors after lamination.
  8. Sealed Edges on thin films below 1.7 mil is not recommended nor will they be quoted.
  9. Heavy laminates (10 mil) have sharp square corners and can puncture the skin.
  10. Laminating is water-resistant not water proof.
  11. Lamination does not provide UV protection.
  12. Center the Image on the parent sheet. Avoid excess non-images areas, lamination material is expensive and it does cause manufacturing issues; increase costs.
  13. Remember to include overs with your order; including overs for all bindery operations that occur after the laminating process. Mark them clearly!
  14. PLEASE send a sample with all-necessary lamination area, crop/finishing marks/rule-outs, marking guide and gripper information with your job.
